Monarch caterpillars chomping away at their main food source the milkweed which is in very very short supply due to the drought. Milkweeds, that is, any Asclepias species, are the host plants to Monarch butterflies and the only plant on which they will lay eggs to continue their life cycle. Milkweed was planted in our community garden to help them out.
More Rainforest Symphony critters as seen at Moody Gardens, Galveston, TX. Many of the wildlife were roaming freely and had no name plates. So I have no way to identify them. If you know any of the names feel free to leave a comment below – I would appreciate it.
Jackson’s three-horned chameleon (Trioceros jacksonii), is an African chameleon.
I was taking a morning selfie of the sun rays coming out of my skylight and afterwards I saw the added effects of a rainbow surrounding me. Too cool not to share! (Android Nexus 4). It’s amazing what a lens can capture that we can not see with the naked eye.
