A Beautiful Bird..the Common Kingfisher
Getting close to wildlife is difficult at the best of times. Various field-craft methods, patience and persistence will always prevail, but getting into some sort of hide will increase your chances at getting ‘the shot’.
Arguably one of the most stunning birds resident in the UK, the Common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) is one of the hardest to get close to. Alongside the Redstart, which I am yet to photograph, it is one of my favourite birds, and ever since beginning my photography journey I have wanted to achieve a viewfinder-filling image of one, with smooth, clean bokeh and interesting foreground content.
