The California Towhee I see frequently in my backyard as they love to eat my wheatgrass seeds. The Spotted Towhee is a bit more scarce. I see them fluttering around the bay but it has been difficult at best for me to capture a shot of this bright, beautiful bird. I finally captured a shot of one as I was walking around the bay and he was perched on a fench next to a favorited field of the Bushtit family.
Towhees are basically sparrows. The California Towhee is larger than the Spotted Towhee. As usual, click to enlarge and enjoy even further.
