Beedie’s Bird Photo ;O) – A Beautiful day around Baywood Park. In this photo – you may think there are two Gulls. One is and one is not, though they are related. The bird with a bright coral bill is a Caspian Tern and to his is right a Ring-billed Gull. Caspian Terns are the largest of the Tern Family. They aggressively defend their breeding colony and will pursue, attack, and chase potential predatory birds, and can cause bloody wounds on the heads of people who invade the colony. The entire colony will take flight, however, when a Bald Eagle flies overhead, exposing the chicks to predation from gulls. (allaboutbirds.org)
