More photos of my recent trip to Yosemite National Park on a very, very icy, cold day in December of 2012. Yosemite has a different feel and look in December. It’s Quiet. Peaceful. There’s only silence and you. Pull over to the side of the road, stand in theĀ forest and take a deepĀ breath of clean, fresh air among the 1,000 year old Sequoias – more commonly known as Redwoods. You may leave a very changed person. (as usual, click on the photo to enlarge and enjoy even further)

I, too, love the Wawona Hotel photo. The icy blue shadow is cool in more ways than one. Did you alter that shot at all or enhance somehow?
Hi Lynn, I post-process all my photos in Adobe Lightroom. In all of these photos that are shot in the snow – the bright white can fool the camera’s sensor…so I will get some blue hues like you see in the photo above. I generally do touch-ups like with shadows to bring out a feature or sharpening to accentuate like in this photo the bits of snow and ice in the highway shot. And try to fix the ‘white balance’ if it is thrown off a bit. Filters are also fun to play around with. The very first photo I applied a filter for the look you see there. The Wawona shot however is pretty much how I saw it when standing in that spot.
Wow, these are lovely, Beedie! It’s gorgeous up there, I wish I can see this place one day.
I hope you can too Gracie. The experience is transformative. Thanks for stopping by my blog :O)
I love your images here Beedie, that hotel looks amazing. You have taken some great shots.
So if a tree falls will it make a sound?
Thank you Leanne! We had such a wonderful trip. It was coooold, but the setting was beautiful after this first winter storm hit Yosemite.
